Abundance has success. The king attains abundance. Be not sad. Be like the sun at midday.

Both thunder and lightning come: the image of abundance. Thus the superior person decides lawsuits and carries out punishments.

Initial Nine · 初九

遇其配主，虽旬无咎，往有尚。
When a man meets his destined ruler, they can be together ten days, and it is not a mistake. Going meets with recognition.
Meets a peer of the same caliber (pei zhu) — ten days together without fault; advance brings recognition.
Six in the second · 六二
⚋ yin
丰其蔀，日中见斗。往得疑疾，有孚发若，吉。
The curtain is of such fullness that the polestars can be seen at noon. Through going one meets with mistrust and hate. If one rouses him through truth, good fortune comes.
Tarp so heavy at noon you can see the Big Dipper (the leader is shielded from light by aides). Approach is mistrusted; only sincere awakening (you fu fa ruo) brings fortune.
Nine in the third · 九三

丰其沛，日中见沬。折其右肱，无咎。
The underbrush is of such abundance that the small stars can be seen at noon. He breaks his right arm. No blame.
Even thicker shrouding; like having one's right arm broken — paralyzed yet blameless in restraint.
Nine in the fourth · 九四
⚊ yang
丰其蔀，日中见斗。遇其夷主，吉。
The curtain is of such fullness that the polestars can be seen at noon. He meets his ruler, who is of like kind. Good fortune.
Still under shroud, but finally meets a peer-leader (yi zhu); fortune.
Six in the fifth · 六五
⚋ yin
来章，有庆誉，吉。
Lines are coming. Blessing and fame draw near. Good fortune.
Brilliant lines come (lai zhang) — invite men of talent and culture; blessings and reputation follow. Fortune.
Six at the top · 上六
⚋ yin
丰其屋，蔀其家，窥其户，阒其无人，三岁不觌，凶。
His house is in a state of abundance. He screens off his family. He peers through the gate and no longer perceives anyone. For three years he sees nothing. Misfortune.
Mansion swollen, family screened off; he peers out, sees no one; three years, no one seen. Total isolation, total ruin.

Guard against inflation. When everyone around you is praising, when you feel invincible, you are already at line 6 (the screened mansion). Maintain beginner's mind.
