The Gentle. Success through what is small. It furthers one to have somewhere to go. It furthers one to see the great person.

随风，巽，君子以申命行事。
Winds following one upon the other: the image of the gently penetrating. Thus the superior person spreads their commands abroad and carries out their undertakings.

进退，利武人之贞。
In advancing and in retreating, the perseverance of a warrior furthers.
Vacillating advance and retreat — only the steadfastness of a warrior breaks the indecision.

巽在床下，用史巫纷若，吉，无咎。
Penetration under the bed. Priests and magicians are used in great number. Good fortune. No blame.
Kneels in deepest humility (xun zai chuang xia); uses sincere ritual and intermediaries in profusion; pierces the upper layer of doubt. Fortune, no blame.

频巽，吝。
Repeated penetration. Humiliation.
Repeatedly bowing without effect (pin xun); the body language of indecision — humiliating.

⚋ yin
悔亡，田获三品。
Remorse vanishes. During the hunt, three kinds of game are caught.
Regret gone; in the hunt, three types of prey gained — diligent gentleness yields concrete results.

⚊ yang
贞吉，悔亡，无不利。无初有终。先庚三日，后庚三日，吉。
Perseverance brings good fortune. Remorse vanishes. Nothing that does not further. No beginning, but an end. Before the change, three days. After the change, three days. Good fortune.
Steadfast — fortune; no regret; nothing fails. Beginnings rough, endings well; three days of warning before the decree, three days of tracking after. Fortune.
Nine at the top · 上九
⚊ yang
巽在床下，丧其资斧，贞凶。
Penetration under the bed. He loses his property and his axe. Perseverance brings misfortune.
Submission too deep — loses both his goods and his protective weapon (sang qi zi fu). Persistence here is dangerous.

Cultural osmosis, refined operations, market penetration strategy. Management directives must be 'repeated like the wind'; but a leader who is purely yielding loses both authority and resources.
Psychology & Cognition
Influence others through subtle, sustained gentleness (nonviolent communication). Beware excessive softness that erases your boundary — losing 'zi fu' (resource and protective edge) is the danger at the top.
Decision Guidance
Three days before and three days after every major decree (xian geng san ri, hou geng san ri). Soft penetration; firm core. Never sleep under the bed losing both wealth and weapon (line 6).
